Quiksilver Pro Goldie
Snapper Rocks and Rolls
The top surfers have gathered in Australia, on the Gold Coast, for the first event of the year. The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast usually scores epic waves running down the Super Bank, and is usually a natural-footers event. The Super Bank is also conducive to high-performance rashunting (ripping, shredding and punting). The combination - a natural footer's wave and a wave that likes to be ripped upon - is definitely going to suit Jordy.
Sections of the wave at Snapper closely resemble Jordy's home break New Pier in Durban, a wave that he has grown up surfing on, so it's quite possible that Jordy could show the world what he's holding, and take a victory on the first event of the 2009 season. While there will be massive attention on Slater as he defends his title and goes for the 10, so Jordy could quite easily steal the show.
