Action at the Quik Pro

'Wind-affected one-metre waves' is how the ASP website described the surf for the first day of surfing at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast. While the event has a waiting period from 27 Feb to 11 March, contest organisers were keen on getting round one complete as soon as possible.

So it was over to the wedgy peaks of Duranbah for the first round. Jordy came up against the Brazilian Adriano de Souza and Aussie Drew Courtney, and was unlucky to come second to the Brazilian in a close heat. Jordy lost by a mere .8 of a point, but it was enough to put him into the second round.

Jordy will meet with Snapper local Dean 'Dingo' Morrisson in a round 2 encounter that has some grudge factor involved. It was Dingo who eliminated Jordy from this event in round 4 last year, and no doubt Jordy will want to exact some form of revenge.
