This event, which takes place at the sometimes scary venue of Haleiwa, is the first event in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, and is a great event for the surfers to start their season off.

While not part of the Seven Mile Miracle that is the North Shore, Alii beach in Haleiwa is home to a great wave. A big right-hander that gets up to 12-foot with a fierce rip sucking into it. Some heavy wipe-outs have occured atHaleiwa over the years, as well as some excellent surfing performances.

The wave has some serious grunt, and this suits Jordy perfectly. He has proven that his size is a bonus in the big and powerful waves of Hawaii, and haleiwa and Sunset Beach are the surf spots that he absolutely dominates.
