The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast is the first event of the 2009 World Tour, and is the one that everyone is the most amped for. If you have a good first event then you're off to a flying start, so to speak.

The wave at Snapper Rocks is one of the most perfect right-hand sand bar waves on the planet, and has been aptly nick-named 'The Superbank.'

The wave at Snapper is very similar to Jordy's home break, the New Pier in Durban, a spot where he stands out above all the hot surfers who frequent there. He will be facing the waves of the Superbank, and the long zippering walls will be perfect for his fluid, fast and light-footed style.

Surfer who excel at Snapper consist of names like Slater, Fanning, Durbridge, Parko. Jordy has yet to have a good run at Snapper. This could be his year.
