Pipe Masters

Bong Pipe Masters

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Pipeline.

The final event of the year takes place at the notorious Banzai Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. It has seen some of the closest title races come down to the wire in amongst filthy barrels; it has showcased some magnificent wipe-outs, enormous waves and outstanding performances. Pipeline as a wave is firmly imbedded in the lore of our sport - it has seen some career-making waves been ridden, and surfers have died surfing at Pipe.

The Pipe Masters also has a unique system whereby local surfers and Pipe specialists get a chance at getting into the main event by means of a trials event.

Everyone who gets in wants to impress the judges, impress the spectators and impress their sponsors. It is a big event.

Last year Jordy was injured prior to the Pipe Masters whilst surfing in the final of the O'Neill World Cup at Sunset Beach. His knee injury saw him spectate the final event of the year, but his performances at big Pipe prior to his injury were strong enough to prove to many that when the time comes he will dominate the tricky line-up.

Pipeline is a hard beast to master, but Jordy is already there. He is in love with the wave and with it's perfection. By the time this event comes around he will be frothing to perform, to impress, and to win.
